JAD Associates are able to produce Health and Safety related documents, including project specific Method Statements, Risk Assessments, Operating Procedures and Policies. If your organisation employs five or more people it must have a written Health and Safety policy and a Health and Safety management system to continually assess and document action on identifiable risks. The JAD Associates' approach to Health and Safety is to create a practical, working system and not to produce a set of files that merely sits on the shelf. JAD Associates believe that effective Health and Safety systems are those that are integrated with the other aspects of the organisation's management systems such as Quality Assurance, Environmental Management and Human Resources Management. This integrated approach ensures that Health and Safety is taken into account appropriately and managed proportionally as a result of meaningful reviews and targeted auditing. JAD Associates' aim is to assist our clients by reviewing working practices, carrying out appropriate risk assessments and by identifying sensible control measures and ensuring compliance with legislation via practical management processes and timely and bespoke solutions. Health & Safety Inspections and Audits JAD Associates can provide a service to independently monitor and audit Health & Safety arrangements at a particular location, facility or site. Inspections generally cover all aspects of operations as they relate to the workforce, contractors and to the general public. Regular site inspections can be carried out using site-specific checklists which greatly reduce the time and cost of the safety inspections needed to cover the requirements of UK safety legislation. JAD Associates, with the agreement of the client, record inspections and findings, with digital photography for inclusion on reports and close-out presentations. Visual records are an excellent way of monitoring Health and Safety performance and alterations/developments that occur on a site and also provide bespoke material for training and workforce induction. Following a safety inspection, JAD Associates will produce a report outlining areas of both good and poor practice and suggested remedies that could assist in increasing Health and Safety performance throughout the company.
Health & Safety Policy The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 requires companies of five or more employees to have a written Statement of Policy. JAD Associates can provide a service to review your existing policy or develop a new policy ensuring it reflects the operations of your company within the required legal framework and ensuring that all stakeholder needs are addressed. The policy serves as a record of the standard and duty of care provided by management. The policy should provide concise details of an organisation's health and safety goals, objectives and the means of achieving them, including the assignment of responsibilities at each level and detailed arrangements of how Health and Safety will be managed. The policy and Health and Safety arrangements should be reviewed annually to ensure that the responsibilities and arrangements are still applicable. JAD Associates can help you produce and update the necessary documentation. Risk Assessments The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 requires employers to undertake 'a suitable and sufficient' risk assessment of their operations to quantify the risk to employees and other people affected by the operations (such as contractors, visitors, general public, etc). JAD Associates offer a service to carry out risk assessments within your company. Effective and meaningful risk assessments are generally produced as a result of observations, interviews and discussions with those involved in activities and documentation reviews such as accident records. JAD Associates follow the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) '5 Steps to Risk Assessment' methodology: · identification of hazards · identification of persons at risk · evaluation of risks arising from hazards · recording of assessment findings · monitoring and review of assessment.
Operating Procedures/Method Statements There may be particular operations or processes carried out on site where, due to the nature of the task, written procedures, operating instructions, method statements, etc, are required. These written statements are used for reference by the work force, line management, regulatory inspectors or as part of a Health & Safety or integrated management system. Method Statements may also be used as part of a training process to inform that the right steps are taken to ensure that a hazardous operation is performed safely and efficiently. JAD Associates can prepare the necessary procedural documentation using easy to follow flow charts and where practical photographs to demonstrate the correct practice. Safety Training Services JAD Associates will assist your organisation in identifying areas where training is needed, developing training modules, and delivering training on your premises to minimise disruption to the working schedule.
